NH Commission on the Status of Men

The mission of the New Hampshire Commission on the Status of Men: To examine issues and effects of cultural biases and stereotyping, beginning with childhood experiences and progress in public schools, extending to include a study of male suicide and adult concerns such as family relations. To promote education and policies which bring fathers and children closer together, with an emphasis on the importance of the role of the father in child development. To study health problems unique to men or which predominantly affect men,and make appropriate recommendations. To promote initiatives, programs and incentives that will enable men to continue their education and develop family and career skills to improve their ability to be productive and responsible citizens. The Commission was established by the New Hampshire legislature in 2002, as described in RSA 19-I.

NH Bar Legal info. on Domestic Violence

This is good information for victims of Domestic Violence who have questions about restraining orders and their rights to protection from their abuser. The Crisis Centers on this list do not currently include SAFE-NH because the Coalition Against Domestic Violence has chosen not to acknowledge our services,or allow us to be a "member agency". This is not because we do not meet qualifying criteria but simply because they feel that their member agencies do an adequate job helping men and other "underserved" populations of victims and therefore have deemed us "unecessary". They do not want to "share funding" with SAFE-NH...and that is the reality. The 381 callers from our 1st year (2003)and the 1199 contacts during 2004,have a much different view on the lack of equal services for "certain victims". In spite of not being part of the listed agencies,we feel that the information contained in this link is important for ALL victims of Domestic Violence. Please keep in mind that even though we may not be able to access a DOVE attorney for your case because the DOVE program is generally only available to victims who are referred by Coalition member agencies..., we will do our best to try and obtain services. WE CAN also access legal services through NH Legal Assistance a program that does not discriminate against the victims who seek assistance and support from us here at SAFE-NH. Please see the link for NH Legal Assistance or call us at SAFE-NH for help in acquiring an Attorney for your situation. We will keep an open dialogue with the NH Bar and the DOVE Program to facillitate legal services to the best of our ability.

NH Legal Assistance

If you need legal assistance, can't afford one and meet income guidelines check out NH Legal Assistance. In spite of certain areas of this site making reference to women being the victims of domestic violence NHLA does help male victims as well. Also, the statements on this site that say "in order to acquire an attorney through the Domestic Violence Advocacy Project you must be referred by a Women's Crisis Service" ...this is no longer true as NHLA does accept referrals from us here at SAFE-NH...and we assist ALL victims of Domestic Violence.
